A reader reminded me that I’ve been a bad girl with regard to keeping my blog here and at Ravenous Romance updated. So here’s a quick recap of what I’ve been doing lately…
Reading, editing and not as much writing as I should be doing…see I have been very bad
But the good news is, I’ve learned a few tricks in the last few months about what makes stories work, character development and when you should just throw in towel on a particular idea.
There will be more stories coming your way soon.
In the meantime, thanks for reminding me that I need to be better about staying in touch.

I’m doing some story research and need your help. I’m looking for feedback on why you would (or would never) consider setting foot in a gentlemen’s club.
For the women:
- If your significant other (S.O.) asked you to go with him, would you? If not, why not?
- Do you think your S.O. goes without your knowledge? Would it bother you if he did?
- Would you consider going to a club to be a turn-on or a turn-off?
- Would you date/marry a man who frequented clubs on a regular basis?
- Would you consider a married man who goes to a club to be a “cheater”?
- Do you have sexual fantasies about being a dancer in a club?
For the men:
- Would you ever ask your significant other to go with you? Why or why not?
- If your S.O. suggested going to a club, thinking this might please you sexually, would you take her up on the invitation?
- If you go to clubs regularly, is it because you are not getting what you need from your S.O. at home?
- Do you have to hide the fact that you go from your S.O.?
- Do you feel like you are “cheating” on your S.O. by going to clubs?
- If you ever get private dances, do you ask the girls to do/say things that you are afraid to ask your S.O. to do/say?
- Would you ever date/marry someone who worked as a dancer in a club?
Please send your responses (which will be held in confidence) to me via e-mail at brandiwoodlawn@gmail.com.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I’ll be heading off on a trip shortly to do some research for a new project. I can’t give details just yet, but at a minimum, I’ll have three new stories to write when all is said and done. I’m excited about learning all I can about the world these stories will be set in, as this world is a vast departure from my “real” life. And that’s got me a little nervous, too. But I’m confident I’ll figure out a way to pull it off. It’s time to break some boundaries and grow. When opportunity knocks, you’ve got to answer the door, right?

Just got word that the Green Love Anthology was recently reviewed. Here’s what the reviewer had to say about my story in it…
Ramble On
Donna is an environmental lobbyist who uses all of her clout to save the environment. Jeff is an actor who is thinking of taking a job at an insurance agency just to impress her family. They go on an outdoor walk into the park where they begin to explore sex outside and possibly loosen up after their stressful day. Can Donna convince Jeff not to take the insurance job and instead to continue to be true to himself and who he is?
Ms. Woodlawn has such an important message within this story. One of the best parts of this story is how much faith Donna has in Jeff as an actor and as a person. I fell in love with this tale because of that element alone. Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing out a story that makes me want to grin from ear to ear because of the beautiful moral of this wonderful tale!
The full review can be read here.

Many thanks to Danielle at Coffee Time Romance for her review of the Sweaty Sex Anthology and my story, “Her Blade, My Lover.” Knowing someone enjoyed the story really made my day.
“Her Blade, My Lover by Ms. Woodlawn is a hot, steamy, and fun story about the amusing games that can be played in the bedroom…”
You can read the full review here. If you like what you see, the anthology can be purchased here.

My story, “What Counts Is How You Play The Game,” from the Men In Shorts Anthology got reviewed at Coffee Time Romance.
Here’s what the reviewer had to say about it:
“Joe shows up to the softball game commando. It is only fair since the pitcher refuses to wear a bra. What happens on the field can effect what goes on off the field.
I do not think softball will ever look the same to me again. For that, I thank Ms. Woodlawn.”
The full review of the anthology can be read here.

Fencing is a sexy sport. I love to watch it. It reminds me of the days of the duel and the uber romantic idea of two suitors fighting to the death for love. However, there can be a playful, silly side to the sport, too. It all depends on your choice of weapon and what you are ultimately fighting for. It’s the silly side of love that I decided to explore in my story, “Her Blade, My Lover.” Maybe it’s a little self-indulgent. I hope you won’t mind.
Check out the Sweaty Sex Anthology – today’s book of the day at Ravenous Romance.

My new story, “Closer,” out today in the Love Notes Anthology was a fun story to write due to the theme – sex and music. I got the idea for this one after watching a documentary about female porn stars. I always wondered how women rationalized going into that line of work.
One of the ways is to create an alter ego. One of the women in the documentary described her ritual to transform herself from plain Jane from Anytown, USA into “Janie Juggs,” her character or alter ego, the porn star. The ritual was mostly concerned with cosmetics. When the make up was off, she was Jane. When the make up was on, Janie was on the loose.
I know some folks in the BDSM community. I know this type of ritual applies to the club scene as well. By day, the folks who frequently BDSM clubs are respectable, upstanding citizens. Accountants, lawyers…types the average person might not suspect of being involved in so called “deviant” behavior. But when they go to the club, they dress up in costumes, and might be known there by another name.
I decided to apply the concept of this kind of transformation to someone who might frequent the club scene. If you want to get the full affect of the experience I hoped readers would have, you want want to give the songs referenced in the story a listen, too.
I hope you enjoy it and would love to hear whether or not it “worked” for you.
